Photo: Gev's Kitchen

Gev's Kitchen: Khinkali gets all the Georgian dumpling glory, but the smaller, more tortellini-esque pelmeni are pretty great too - and at Gev's Kitchen I think they're actually better, far and away the best pelmeni I've ever had. You can put together a couple of days' delicious meals from one trip to this take-out spot. Be sure the get the "bbq vegetables" too. (Van Nuys)

Schreiner's Fine Sausages: I've been to a grocery store in Berlin, and my strongest memory is the acres of sausages in the meat "section," which was an entire floor. Schreiner's is a German deli and seems pretty authentic based on that metric. It's small but seems to offer dozens of German (and Mexican, and some eastern European) cuts and sausages. Great place to pick up a mustardy sandwich and some European treats. (Montrose)

Photo: Berolina Bakery

Berolina Bakery: Berolina is next to Schreiner's, which makes for a pretty fun bangbang. Heavily but not entirely Swedish, the bakery does great morning buns, Danishes, and laminated pastries, and it probably offers the best princess cake in town. (Montrose)

TehranRo Grill: The lamb chops here are so good. So are the beef kabobs. They really meant it when they added "grill" to TehranRo Grill. Also I recommend paying the upcharge and getting baghali polo - rice with fava beans and dill. A million times more flavorful than it sounds! (Koreatown)

Photo: Lumpia Ladies

Lumpia Ladies of Los Angeles: I came across a site called Shef that seems to essentially be a market for excellent home cooks to sell their meals across the city. So far Lumpia Ladies is the only one I've tried. It was great. The pancit and chicken adobo were quite good, and the bistek tagalog was fantastic. (Delivery only)
